Rell Sunn
1950-1998
Rell Sunn was a surfer from the West Side of Oahu, Hawaii. Rell, also known as “Aunty Rell” and the “Queen of Makaha” was a pioneer of women’s professional surfing. She was a top ranked surfer in the 1970s and 1980s.
Rell succumed in 1998 from a long battle of breast cancer.
