Linda Benson
1944-
Linda Benson is a world class surfer from California. She won the Huntington Beach West Coast Championships and the Hawaii Makaha Invitational in 1959 at the age of 15. She continued on her winning streak winning the California U.S. Championships in 1960,61,64 and ’68. She placed second to Phyllis O’Donnell in the 1964 World Surfing Championships held at Manly Beach, Australia. Along with her competition stellars, Linda was the first woman to surf Waimea Bay.
